KIMO
KIMO is a very special
'Skeeter. His body is red, head and wings are white,
legs and stinger are yellow.
His colors are similar to
MEKA's, but their placement is what makes this
Hawaiian Kine Skeeter different.
KIMO was designed after a man
in a uniform who used to direct traffic
in great style. His British royal guard-style helmet was white as his gloves -
his brass buttoned jacket bright red.
I had several opportunities to both watch him in action and speak with him. He
was a delightful person that I feel very fortunate to have crossed paths with.
In a rare moment, I was allowed to photograph him in a pose.
Those who visited the Dole Cannery Square on Iwilei around 1993 will feel a smile come across their face when they remember who I am referring to.
If the gentleman in question happens to find this page, I would be honored if he would e-mail to say "Aloha." I'm sure he won't remember me, for I was one of thousands who walked across that street to the office during the time he shared his talent and skill with both foot and vehicular traffic.
Here's to you, Kimo, with honor
